Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by moving a ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the hands and arms, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within a designated area. Football is known as soccer in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to distinguish it from American football.

The game is played in two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a short halftime interval. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins. If the score is tied, the match may end in a draw or go into extra time and possibly a penalty shootout, depending on the competition rules. Football is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and has a rich history, being one of the most popular sports worldwide, with billions of fans and numerous professional leagues and competitions, including the FIFA World Cup.
