Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to hit a ball over a net into the opponent’s court in such a way that they are unable to return it successfully. Points are scored when the opposing player fails to return the ball within the prescribed dimensions of the court, which is divided into two halves by a net.

The game is played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts. Players use stringed rackets to strike a felt-covered rubber ball. Tennis matches are structured in sets and games, with specific rules governing scoring, serving, and player conduct. The four major tournaments, known as Grand Slams, include the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Tennis is recognized for its rich history, competitive nature, and its status as an Olympic sport. It is popular globally, enjoyed both recreationally and professionally. Players often exhibit a range of techniques, strategies, and athleticism, making tennis both a physically demanding and strategically intricate sport.
